Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why is Ancora Online
more effective than other technologies such as dongles?
Ancora Online stores key data on the BIOS
chip of a computer. Other technologies store information in the
hard disk of a computer or on tokens. Non-volatile memory in BIOS
chips is far more difficult to access than data stored anywhere
else. Tokens can be lost or easily stolen. Hard disks can be accidentally
or maliciously erased and information stored there can be easily
read by spyware and viruses.
2. What if I want to buy
a new computer?
Ancora Online allows the end user to enroll
and ancorize the new computer from the old ancorized computer.
Once the new computer is ancorized, the end user can remove Ancora
from the old computer.
3. If I have to travel,
can I use any other computer?
An ancorized computer can choose to suspend
Ancora for the duration of a trip. The user will not be able to enjoy the
Ancora Online protection, but will be able to use any computer for
online banking. Upon returning, the user can re-activate Ancora
using his/her computer.
We do however recommend carrying an ancorized computer when traveling.
4. How easy is it to use?
Once a computer has been enrolled and ancorized,
the user experience is exactly the same as before. The enrollment
process is simple and straightforward, requiring only entering an initial
Enrollment Code given by a bank.
Once installed Ancora operates invisibly.
5. What if my
computer is stolen or my hard drive destroyed?
Since Ancora Online stores the "device
verifier" on BIOS nothing is lost if a hard disk is stolen or damaged.
6. What if I
have more than one computer?
An ancorized computer can be used to enroll
and ancorize a predetermined number of additional computers.
